Sweat and toil, mud and manure; life in the Priory was nothing like Nolson had first envisaged. As a Scribe in the service of Alanor the Prophet, he would have much preferred to spend his days labouring over ancient tomes and important histories, but a cruel Prioress preferred otherwise and had him up to his neck in filth. And Nolson was miserable because of it; long days of strenuous labour, poor food and humiliation are enough to frustrate even the strongest of men. But just as it seems he’s reached his limit of pain and suffering, a strange old man arrives at the Priory and Nolson’s life is irrevocably altered. And when a long-lost Skull of power is also unearthed beneath the Priory, a hidden sect of evil Clerics resurfaces and murder and suffering abound. As the evil spreads, Nolson must face fear and pain and delve deeply within himself to survive the turmoil. Together with an unlikely band of helpers; a pair of gruff Armsmen, a philanderer and a pretty healer, Nolson and the old man must investigate the murders and bring an end to the Clerics’ destructive plans if they have any hope of restoring peace to the Priory.
